The Ouray County Poet Laureate is an honorary position responsible for the proportion of the art of poetry and seeks to raise local consciousness to a greater appreciation of the reading and writing of poetry. The two-year position was established by the Ouray County Board of County Commissioner via Resolution 2018-038.
On April 23, 2019 Ouray County Board of County Commissioners appointed Beth Paulson as the Ouray County Poet Laureate for the term of April 2019-April 2021 via Resolution 2018-012.
The be considered for the position, the applicant must reside in Ouray County, be at least 18 years of age and be available for public activities, as requested, throughout the term of service. An applicant may be self-nominated or nominated by others.
The Poet Laureate is an honorary two-year position without compensation .
