Emergency Management

The Ouray County Emergency Manager is responsible for the preparation of evacuation plans and emergency relief procedures that the County can quickly execute in the event of a disaster. When a disaster occurs, the Emergency Manager, under the direction of the Ouray County Sheriff may take the lead to implement the plans that have been created, working with law enforcement, emergency medical services, government personnel and rescue professionals.

Ouray WENS logo 
Wireless Emergency Notification System (WENS) is a general system of text messages that is sent when the recipient might be affected by something occurring in Ouray County. Recipients can choose to receive notification of Road Maintenance activities and controlled burn notices, in addition to general notification.
